Default VAG-COM says...

My CEL light came on a week or so ago, and I met with my friend who has a VAG-COM, and he pulled his computer into my car to read the error(still hasnt emailed me the sheet) but the code said something was wrong with the throttle body, and the O2 sensor. Any body else have these problems and or know how hard of a fix it is for this? I know I can live with it for a while, but I'd like to get it fixed.

You should indicate the engine and year.

First step is to try and adapt the throttle body. Check the O2 sensor reading via the VAGcom or grab a multimeter and check the voltage. It should rotate between .3-.8 V with the engine running. If it's dead, replace it.

'fault in basic settings' usually means the throttle body controller is toast and is unable to adapt. you can try to adapt it before you buy a new one, but its probably not going to work.

you should try to clean the throttle body first. sometimes if it's too dirty it won't adapt. as for the 02 sensor codes, your bank 1 sensor 1 sensor is toast.
