My take on/from this: PPS and metal are both fine, whereas the old plastic was garbage.

Thats pretty much what I gathered from all of it. The one thing I *don't* necessarily agree with is the part where he said that it could be detrimental to your engine if you use one or the other and it didn't come with that from the factory. There can't be THAT much difference between them can there?

I think they are trying to give the composites a better name, and by they saying metal is worse... but by how much. sometimes companies say their product is far superior based on a thousandth of a decimal point

PPS pumps are used for one reason, and one reason only....They're cheaper than metal, period.
If they are SO fantastic why is it whenever i take one out of a 1.8T (like the 05 B6 i just did 2 weeks ago) have fins broken off? The one i just took out had three fins broken off.

Its all BS, metal or plastic, the bearings and O-rings won't last more than 100k anyways, so if you ask me i'll take metal any day of the week. I would rather it leak then sending plastic fins into my coolant system that i can't retrieve.

Thats a good point. Have you ever seen structural failure on a metal pump?

^^No, just a whine when the bearings start to fail, which is usually long after the timing belt is due.

What do you think about what I mentioned earlier? Where the guy said that you shouldn't swap between PPS and metal pumps because your cooling system was "specially designed" to work with one or the other?

our cars actually have a basic and non-complex cooling system. He is just trying to sell a product
