Thumbs up Well hello

Hows it going i'm a new member to these forums and just bought my b5 a4 about 2 weeks ago did tons of research on here before i bought one.
just a couple of questions.

1.where it says mileage when my car is off it flashes "in 2" also have the 2 oil lights flashing is this indicating an oil change? i thought it meant in 2 miles get an oil change but have driven well over 2 miles.also checked the oil and the level is normal

2.Got the abs, brake, air bag and check engine lights on but car has 214k so it is to be expected planned on repairing this car to almost new since i have a friend who is a mechanic and works on audis and vdubs and can do labor for free

3.also found a random button on drivers side between the doors a square button with something that looks like service bars of some sort

Any help on these would be greatly appreciated

Best regards.

Not sure what you mean.... is it on the center display or under where your miles are on the speedometer?
resetting the service interval indicator

You need to get a VAGCOM or find a friend that has one. Scan the abs system, clear the airbag code, and see what's causing the CEL that way.

That button disables the interior motion sensor. If you lock your car with your windows down and it's windy, the alarm will go off.... if you press that button, it disables that part of the alarm.

Just to add to Pyro's comment. You only have something like 10 seconds to close the door and lock the car after pressing the button or the motion sensor will reactivate.

IN2 is a non-oil related service reminder. No big deal. Follow the link he posted and you should be able to clear it. IN1 and OIL are the other 2.

214K Miles? Another newb here looking to buy a B5 with high miles. Can anyone speak to the engine life if proper maintenance is performed like timing belt, oil changes, ect on 1.8T?

The 2.8 is more reliable for high mileage - less hoses to fail. But any car can go the distance if it is maintained. My old 1.8t sedan had 124K on it when it got totaled - and it was running perfectly. I have a friend that has 150K on his 2.8.

Up to 01 A4s :

Press button under speedometer.
Switch ignition on.
Release button.
'Service' or 'Service in *****' will appear on trip recorder display
Turn button under rev counter to the left to clear the display.
'Service in 10 000 mi' will appear in display.
Switch ignition off.
This is from the above linked DIY to reset the IN2 indicator and I gotta ask (not to threadjack btw, just a quick curiosity) what button under the speedometer is this referencing? Is it the button to reset the trip or is there some hidden button that I'm too blind to see? Cuz I have this same thing going on, tried following these steps to clear it, and all I ended up with was a reset trip and no cleared indicator so if someone could clarify this, that'd be fantastic
