Default well she died today.

i got 119 on mine and it just went out on me. I did the cam seals last week and the car was off timing just a little bit I felt because i my MPG went way down. Decided to go to a friends house to get the codes checked. started the car up ran fine and let it warm up as i brushed the snow off. pulled in his driveway and i was hearing this noise that somethin was loose. i thought it was the cam chain but didn't feel any vibration on the valve cover. The noise was coming from under the coil pack and it was sounding like a diesel motor. I probably shouldn't of done this but i had to and i tried driving it back to my place. i was a half mile away when it lost all power and it sounded like fluid was running all over the place in the engine.

anyone got an idea what it could be? i just had the tow truck driver take it to the local audi dealership becuase i am two hours from home and may just have to have them do it since i just started my LAST ******* semester.

thinking about it now could it possibly be the coil pack? the fluid could easily be just the gas running through it and after it died i tried turning it over and it cranked over just fine without any problems or bangs!

well, that sucks. Without more information, I can't really think what it might be.

garage claims that it is a rod that let go. i changed my cam seals a weekend ago and i guess i missed on the timing.

timing belt tensioner? i had the same noise (diesel sound) since i bought my car. about a week ago it got 10x worse so i shut the car down and called my vw/audi tech buddy. he listened to it, popped all my timing covers, checked the belt (had tension) so he popped the valve cover off to check the hydrolic tensioner for the cams. that was fine, so then he unplugged the coil and had me crank the car to see what was going on in there. while i was doing so the the timing belt tensioner broke and the tb lost tension. so i got extremely lucky and didnt eat my valves. my car had about the same mileage as yours. tb and water pump was changed at 80k but nothing else (gotta love cutting corners)
