What bush has gone here - knock from front wheel
1 Attachment(s)
Hi All
Ive got a knock from my front drivers wheel when going over speedbumps, or if i bounce the car up and down when parked by pushing down on the wing, but which bush is it thats likely to be gone ? Attachment 30265 thanks all |
From observation, it could be your tie rod end. I spy a ripped boot. If that's not it, my next guess would be lower control arms. Your best bet is to buy a control arm kit (such as from FCP Groten, ~$240 or less) and replace all control arms and both tie rod ends to eliminate all bushing/ball joint issues. This is definitely a DIY-type procedure if you have some mechanical knowledge and tools.

I spy a torn tre boot. Also does that spring look cocked? It doesn't seem to line up correctly

Also another pic of behind the brake rotor at the bottom of the arm there are two more arms there that can be culprits.

I will third the tie rod. get rid of it even if there is no play. With the boot worn it will have a shortened life. Ditto on the springs also , something does not look right with the way they are sitting.
One more thing. I find it best to check the upper arms with the tires on & the weight of the vehicle on them. with the suspension hanging it takes up any play in the worn ball jount end. Reach inside the wheel well , give them a grab at the end & see if there is play. |
WTF is up with that spring?!

Thanks all for the replies.
Hmm the spring does look a bit funny, will have to drop it down and take another look. Whats TRE? track/tie rod.....? Heres a closer pic of the top bush with split Attachment 30261 and the lower left in the pic which seems to look a bit tired :- Attachment 30262 |
Haha looks like you found your answer.
|
ok so the track rod end needs doing as its split, but what about the lower bush in the last pic?
