what color audi rings should i do?
well here is a crappy pic i just took with my phone... im not to sure on the red... im prolly gonna go back to the black... but how do u take off the chrome? is it easy like the rings or is it more delicate than that?

Shoulda gone with pink. I don't really like how your red looks but from that picture it at least looks well done.. I have painted two grille surrounds and all I did was sand them down a lot. I've never driven with a painted surround/rings though so I'm not too sure how the paint holds up.
If the rings were chrome to begin with, it was a quattro... or was that FWD?
Just messing with you, dude, but a quick glance, and it looks like the other chrome piece comes off pretty much the same way the rings did...

I did a gloss black for the entire grille, and really like it. Now the only thing shiny/chromey is the Quattro badge. I'm thinking of taking the rings off and going white, but I can't find something to come close to matching my pearl white. Until then I'm sticking with the all black.
BTW, the surround was pretty easy. Just a lot of sanding. And, of course, primer.

Surround is a bit more annoying than the rings to remove, but its the same concept. Tabs that need to be released. This is where a flathead screwdriver is your friend. Prying and pulling.
I painted my rings/grill a week or two ago. Holding up alright, but it was only a week or two ago. I kinda wish I had primered it, but I just did a really good sanding job instead. I am thinking about putting a matte clear coat on it for some more protection.
(I know you have flat black already, but I vote matte black. It pops from the grill vents a bit because they are more flat, and it looks menacing.)
