What OIL should i use for winter!
I use Total Quartz syn (formerly ELF) 5W-40 always and a over sized MANN filter to help prevent sludge. Audi manual says to run 5W-40 and it is thinner more free flowing than 10s. The higher the number the longer it takes oil to flow to an oraface. I always use 5w-40 because that's what my manual says, but 5w-30 should not hurt your car. I would always stay away from 10s unless you drive through death valley everyday or something but that's just me, people may disagree. Some would use a 20W-xx to stop an engine knock but that would just mask the problem. You should be OK with 5W-30 and who knows what the manufacturers reasons are for having you run 5W-40, also Amsoil syn is a good brand.
yea i use castrol syntec 5w 40 and an oversized filter as well...had no problems and runs great...i have tried out the napa gold ford 302 filter and it fits and everything and it can take some extra oil as well...
mobil1 0w40 and mobil1 m301 filter. always have always will.
and you bought a camry to replace your quattro audi for denver winter time?! blasphemy. thats like keeping your kids inside because its too nice and sunny out.
i hope you did that just to protect your nice Audi from getting hit by the other idiots on the road

I was advised with Amsoil there really is no differance in weight viscosity, just additives for specific use and it is just for cosumer marketing to identify with.
