Question What is this sticking out?

Trying to figure out what this is and how to remove it or adjust it, I figured I'd ask first, seems like everytime someone comes into my car they pull on it, trying to find out what it is too, and each time it comes out further and further, does anyone know what this is and can I just remove the panel and reset it or remove it?

That's just like a rubber gasket. You can remove the whole line of AC vents, and it should fit a bit more snug back in there.... Like not showing at all. It is there to seal between the ac vents and dash I think. Probably keeps the plastic from rattling.

Wow thanks for the super fast response. Its not rubber though, it feels more like a rough cloth like a filter mesh.

Just try carefully tucking it back in with a credit card or something?

Well either way, i think it just helps to keep vibrations to the minimum. I had to remove that whole assembly to install my AWE boost guage, i'll see if I can find a write up on how to remove it. It isn't hard, I know that.

Alright, found it. Use the instructions from page 1. Very simple, remove a vent, and then pull the whole assembly out.

Hope this helps.

Sweet, I remember trying to pull the entire housing out the first time I noticed it, didn't know the vents had to come out first, seems pretty simple, I'll try this this weekend. Thanks a lot Jeff!

thats super weird. that was sticking out of my vent too when i got it and one day i just got fed up and yanked on it. to my amazement it just pulled all the way out with no adverse affects such as rattling of the vents. just yank it out and if anything happens you can always put it back in.
