If you had just bought a 2001 A4 1.8t 5 speed for cheap as a 3rd car/daily driver and had an extra thousand or two to blow on it? Rims, exhaust, suspension, or a performance mod(s)? Or just save it for my B6 S4 I'll be buying later this year? Thanks.

2001 A6 and A4 both - silver turbos

 

i wouldn't put any money into the s4. its hella expensive and with it being NA you wont see that nice of gains

i would add a chip, dv/bov, custom exhaust, and then put the rest towards looks/ICE

i vote get a B5 S4 and chip it!

 

keep the a4, swap out the engine for a vr6 and turbo it. with selling your engine and doing the necessary mods, you might be a bit short though but it's much more cost and potential efficient than the other 2 ways.
if you're not looking for a crazy powerful car just keep the a4 and do what chaos said.

 

So stay away from the S4? Got confused a bit I guess. not doing anything to A6, wife stole it. But just not sure if I should just leave this A4 stock or not. If I typed S4, I meant I planned to later get a B6, but I just got an 01 A4 1.8 cheap for daily driver...

yes stay away from the b6 s4. they should have put in like a 3.3l biturbo instead of a v8. basically they made the car into like a almost unmodable 2.8 lol

 

this thread just got confusing. dont understand leifer's response and to the OP, are you getting a b6 s4 or b6 a4 later this year?

 

Giac chip, injectors, DV/BOV, exhaust, rims. Done.

 

Was planning on getting the B6 S4 later this year, trying to get a 2005.5 or newer for the new front end. I know it's not a moddable, but definitely less problems and expenses. I already have a 2.7T A6 that the wife drives, and I pray daily that the turbos don't go kaboom.
