Whats next? CC Q's
ik there are threads on fixing cruise control but im asking specifically cause im in class rite now and have the opportunity to work on it. ive checked the box under the glove box for4 cracked solders, taken off the tree and used electrical contact cleaner oon it to clean it. and checked the fuses and they are all good. i dont know what else to check to get the CC working, nothing happens, no lights when i turn it on and nothing when i press the switch its entirely dead, everything else on the car works to my knowledge all lights and other funtions. and tips would be great guys thanks
Just for clarification, there is no light to indicate the CC is on or being used.
Which solder joints did you reflow on the CC module? On mine I used a soldering iron to put fresh solder on the joints for 3 square capacitors, I think they were yellow. After cleaning the contacts on CC switch this allowed the CC to start working.
I have a whole folder of bookmarks dedicated to CC repair for the B5, but it's on my computer at home. These go through further diagnostics which may be useful to you. I can post up the links later.

This is what I followed for resoldering components on the CC module:

Long, but good diagnostic if the above doesn't work:

Thanks man ill look into it. I didnt solder anything on the cc pcm, it all looked good my auto tech teacher even okayed it for me. And i just took apart and cleaned the switch again ill see if it works. Will any lights come on when i set the cc if it works? Or will i now know unless it accelerates fot me?
so i was checking my vaccum pump **** out removed my throttle body hose and found a tiny bit of oil in it
so my turbo is leaking oil, grand isnt it! so on average is a rebuild or a new turbo cheaper? its not leakin very bad i checked all the hoses and its just kinda moist and a tiny puddle here and there, so i wont worry about it any time real soon.

In the same boat right now. I've been working on getting my cc fixed for a while now and am thinking I have a vacuum problem as well. Re-flowed my cc module and can now hear the audible 'click' on the module when I engage the switch so my stalk switches should be ok. Gonna check my actuator, vacuum pump, brake and clutch switches this weekend. What a PITA.

You will know CC works when it works LOL. There is no indicator anywhere. As cnigro1279 said the relay in the module will make a slight click when CC is engaged, but you would need the glove box open, music turned off, etc. to hear it. With the intake/exhaust setup in my car you wouldn't hear the CC relay click anyways

My switches worked in a different manner but it took a couple hours of head-scratching for me to realize it. Unfortunately I no longer recall how mine worked (relative to the DIYs).
yea my turbo is fine apparently had my budy look at it, its just oil from the crankcase and extra moisture. but the CC still doesnt work i will try reflowing some of the solder but idk what yet, but ill see if it clicks first, all the vaccum stuff looked and seemed good, but i couldnt get the damn line off to check clutch and brake funtion.
