anyone know how i can find out if it's a wheel sensor or the abs module that's gone bad without taking it to a dealership? i have a 2001 1.8tq and my mechanic says i have to take it to the stealership to see what's exactly wrong with it

 

I had the same problem. Whem my ABS module went out, I took it to AutoZone to read the codes (for free). They can't detect that fault code (so they said), so luckily my local shop could. Found it was the ABS module. Didn't cost me anything for the diagnosis, but the module was very expensive (still less expensive than the dealership, though).

 

hmm, since my local shop can't i suppose i'll have to take it to the dealership to diagnose...
