Default Where is the oil filter

On my A4 V6 2.4 diesel..................... help

They don't make diesel Audis!


I've never seen one, but my guess would be on the right of the engine if you were facing the front of the car. What year is it?

I'm suprised it doesn't say in the owner's manual. Also, you might try getting a Hayne's teardown manuals...I love those things!

diesels dont have oil filters dude.... they dont have spark plugs either

your fine! lucky you save money every time you change your oil over us petrol guys... dang


(JK) but its below the top half of the engine thats for sure, its most likely white, yellow, or orange or another bright color !

Were not much help because we didn't get a diesel here in the states. It is very possible it is a cartridge style filter usually those are on top in the engine bay. This is what that style looks like on a 2.0t. http://www.swankmonkey.com/vw/jetta/2006/oil_filter/

I don't think Audi used cartridge-style housings in 1998. Porsche has used them since 1997, but for Audi/VW, cartridge style is a more recent thing, even for their diesels. Look for oil lines and the oil cooler, you're sure to find the filter nearby or attached.
