Default why does it do that?

so every day when i start the car in the morning, wait around 20 sec and drive. it goes up to 3000 rpm to change to 2nd and 3rd gear (automatic transmission) and after i drive like 300ft it will change the gears sooner (around 20000 rpm)
why does it do that only when the car is cold? my dad tells me that it is because the oil has drained down over night and it takes a while for it to circulate again. can someone please explain?

not sure man, i'm not at all familiar with the automatic tranny. I know that when its cold my car idles noticeably higher, could be a similar thing with the transmission?

When the fluid is cold, the TCU will run the shift point up higher for the first shift or two to warm it up... its normal. And, it should shift at 3200 rpm from 2nd to 3rd when mildy cold... close to 4200 when its really cold.
