Get yourself a tip-chip, and you'll see a dramatic improvement. I can take all of my gears well into the 6k range and beyond.

^ is that what it does? cuz mine can go just by the redline in tip mode and i dont have the tip-chip, but i'd be pressing hard on the gas.

try pressing hard on the gas. cuz i think if you let it gradually build up to 5k it will stop. its like a rpm-limiter.i dont know if our car has it, but i see it happen too. sometimes i would forget to change gears when under tip mode, and my rpm would drop or fluctuate around 4-4.5k as if its trying to tell me "your a moron, your not on auto mode"

I'm not pressing all that hard on the gas when rolling thru gears. I really never tried to take my car into that kind of rpm range before i had my tip-chip, so i have nothing to compare it to. But i do know that when driving in auto-mode, the shift-points are moved up and the car doesn't do as much 'gear-hunting' as it used to - and when it does find a gear it likes, it'll grab it and go.

Do you ever get any clunking with the tip-chip? Like when you are in traffic and activate the kickdown switch?

Can't say that i do. For the most part, the shifts are pretty smooth, but there are times the shifts canreally throw you forwardwhen driving thru town atlower speeds. But out on the highway, you can really notice a difference in the way the tranny responds when using the passing gear, or when kicking it down to 4th while in tip-mode.

your car should be able to rev to 6800rpm regardless of wether or not you have a tip chip. something is not right i would get that checked out, vag it and see if you pull any codes
