wont rev up fast / running rich

Default wont rev up fast / running rich

my 98 audi 1.8T wont rev if you hit the pedal at any moderate speed you have to go really slow and then it will rev up thats with the MAFs unplugged with it plugged in it wont really idle but it will run better out of idle is running rick both ways has new O2s and also any ideas? thanks

Pull the codes, post them up. (also, manual or auto trans?)

manual trans. now i can found a vaccum leak! im fixing it now... it will start right now with ok idle rev up and then if i let off the gas it will die unless i let off of it slow. if i put it in first and try to drive it will start to drive then stut down. and 91 octane.

it's still dying after fixing the vacuum leak?

I'm going to talk to a mod about moving this to the B5 section. There is a big following in there, many who can help more, and that way you don't have to start all over again explaining the problem.

Well if it works better without the maf then buy a new maf. The pre 2001 cars are not really designed to be driven without the maf. With it unplugged the ECU does not know how much air is coming it, how boost boost your hitting and how much timing to run.

ok found problem neighbor that bought it from had recently ditched drove the car. After the turbo on the drivers side it goes into a air cooler and the sides of it are plastic one side has a hole and there was a hole in the middle of it. ran a little black at the beginning after but now it is running good again!
