Default Is it worth modifying?

I got a 97 audi a4 quattro 2.8 with about 125,000 miles on it. Its got a 5-speed manual transmission and its given me no problems aside from the brakes which were changed. I am thinking about painting it, throwing 18" black rims on it, changing the headlights, and tinting the windows. considering the high mileage on it, is it worth it or should I just wait until it dies and buy something new>?

I would say stick with it. I have a 97 2.8QM with 180K and it runs like a champ even though I currently have CEL issues. Headlights are a great mod but I would suggest RS4 reps IMHO.

Depending on the current condition of the paint, I would hold off on that. A quality paint job will cost you a bundle, which you probably won't get in return if you ever sell it. Although, if the current paint is going to cause problems such as rust or something, maybe it would be worth it to you to get it done. Unless you plan on running the thing into the ground. Then keep the money saved for your next car! Just my opinion though. Other mods sound fine though. Maybe lower it a bit? Great idea.

It's totally up to you. No one can predict how long your car will last, but if it's worth it to you to put money into it now and take that risk, then go for it.

I'm throwing money into mine with 120k miles on it. Altough I'm spending most of the money getting it in perfect driving shape, and you seem to want it to look good. That's not a bad thing. I've got RS4 reps and I want new headlights.

I know some people in a garage that do decent paint jobs for around 400 bucks, they actually did a great job on my sisters 2004 RSX and its holding up. I would paint it black anyway. Its dark green right now and there are some scratches on the hood and a really deep scratch on the passenger door. If i decide to do it up I am def. going to get the RS4 grille (keeping my audi emblem on it though!) and bring it down a couple of inches. It has potential but I mean I dont know....and yea the CEL is problematic.

I dunno I have a 12v too and here's my $.02. Its not dog slow, but its not a racecar either, which i like. There are no real performance mods worth spending money on, so if you're gonna spend money on it, you get to spend all your money on makin it look f*ckin sick lol. I plan on keeping mine until it croaks, dropping it a couple inches, throwin some 18's on it and tinting the windows and calling it a car. You're not gonna beat anyone in a 1/4 mile, but its gonna look good so you're gonna wanna drive slow anyway

If you have an itch to get a turbo and all the mod potential that comes with it, then don't put another dime into the car you have, because you're gonna need it lol.

well like i said, it runs fine, so I just want it to look really bad ***. Here is a complete list of what I am planning on doing:

20 percent tints all around
Painted glossy black
Aftermarket headlights
18" tires w/black rims
RS4 Front grill
lowering springs

its actually 123K miles on it.

Tints are so early 08. Fishbowl status FTW!!
I'm not a fan at all of the dark green color but repainting your car = $$$$. Could just buy a new A4 for that price.
Just get used facelift headlights, with the money you saved by choosing them instead of aftermarket ones you could also get facelift tails.
18" black rimzz, should just stay oem instead.
RS4 grille is getting annoyingly played.
Springs will still leave you with 4x4 status. Just get coilovers instead, they shouldn't be too pricey if you had plans on repainting and all.
Glad you don't plan on putting a body kit and altezzas on the car! You're better than many noobs on this site.
That's just my opinion. Do what you'd like.

my 99 2.8 has 175k and I'm going to put work into making it look sick...I don't even care about up'd performance because it is powerful enough for a daily driver and the handeling is great because it is lowered. I have pretty sick headlights i got on ebay for like 150, look great. I just want to tint, muffler, get a new skid place and piece that snaps into bottom of grill, and some 16 inch rims and I'll be content
