I have a 2001 1.8T,quattro,manual,black/black with 80K miles. Stock Engine, Body in near perfect condition. Is it worth selling it for $10K, just to buy another black/black 2001.5 S4 that has always been stock, 6-speed with almost 100K? It comes with a Reiger original RS4 bumper and has an upgraded audio system. The dude is offering 12K but i could get it down to 11.5K. What do you think? How should i make this financial decision?

 

I'd say do it. You probably already know the S4 is a bitch to work on compared to the A4, and the insurance is more steep of course. S4 tranny seems to have more issues, but the engine is solid. Just be prepared for insane labor costs if you don't DIY.

Do not do that! If anything happens your insurance will claim fraud on your part and just refuse to cover you. Of course now they run the VIN and know that it is an S4 anyway. Now if you put an S4 drivetrain in an A4 then you wouldnt have to tell them but unless you get modification coverage then they are only going to pay out as if the car were stock.

that was sort of a joke. my uncle works for all-state, so i get a discount, owning a s4 will not make a difference compared to the a4. Thanks tho, you really lowered my self esteem towards the dream of having a s4!

 

There are a couple of people where i live interested in it, but i was never willing to sell. When i told them if i was to sell it would be round 10K, they were surprised. I guess people think highly of the car
