xeon headlights

Default xeon headlights

okay so im stumped working on my 04 a8 this isnt the right forum but it is headlights so i replaced the bulb in the xeon headlight on the driver side low beam installed it and nothing not ignite! no flicker or anything so is the igniter bad on the bulb it sits right on top of the bulb than a wire connects to it so all the igniters are serperate any thought?

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying... did you make sure the wire is even getting power?

if there is 12 volts into the HID ballast, and a new bulb, the problem has to be between the two, which leaves the ballast (and ignitor if not built into the ballast, some arent).

dude im not sure what im saying etheir im a noob to exeon headlights but theres a ignitor that connects to the back of the bulb once the bulb is installed. before the bulb stoped working it was flickering like the ignitor was bad im so lost here i heard it was $800 for new lights bulbs at the audi dealer for both installed wtf

It could be the ballast.

Switch out one side of the bulb to the other side and see if it works.

well u haft to take the wheel off and the cover so a bunch of screws plus its like impossible to get the jack under this car even with the air lift all the way up

Drive it up on 2x6 pieces of wood ---... <==

And then put a jack under it

true so i ordered a used ignitor on ebay for $40 so i hope it works and for the ballast i believe it does the high beams too and those work

dude you have been around long enough to know better then to go by dealer prices. $800 dealer price = $125 DIY price. and $800 for two light bulbs? where did you even hear that?

HID lights work like this

bulb <---- ignitor <---- ballast <---- power from the car

some systems have the ignitor and ballast built into one box. the ignitor throws the ~35000 volts it takes to fire the lights up initially. after that the ballast supplies the 400-800 volts to keep the lights on.

wow ghost this is OEM EXEON there REAL i paid $115 for the bulb with a dealship price from a local warehouse called carquest than i went on ebay and bought ballast for $40 used
