02' A4 3.0 CVT
Purchased an 02' A4 3.0 CVT last month. Has been a nightmare since day two. It ran great during the cold test drive, but after having it home and warmed up, the CVT starting misbehaving. It is completely shot, shuddering and skipping all the way. Like a dummy I signed a no-arbitration period waiver with the seller.
So . . . I leaned forward and had the timing belt changed (75K miles) to inlcude all associated parts while I wait for the extended warranty to kick in, to cover the tranny rebuild.
I live in Ga. was visiting family in NJ, where I found an Indy willing to do the job for half what the wanted down here. To wrap up the saga - he took longer and cost more than he quoted, and had to do the job twice becuase he never pressurized the water pump which blew when he started it up. Well, it made it back to Ga. no drama . . . a few days later the coolant light started coming on, so I added a little more G12, which remedied the light. Now, it is leaking clear oily fluid at a moderate rate. I would say the size of a softball over night. I assume it is coolant and I am afraid it is from the water pump.
Any suggestions on trouble shooting would be helpfull.
Oh and Two codes came up in the Vag check which I can not decipher - 01738 and 01739
Few lessons learned - No arbitration period is equally as cherry as out of state repairs.
