Default 02 A4 avant slower then usual

Hey my friend has a b6 a4 avant and he complains that his car accelerates slower then it should. I told him its because its a automatic 1.8t but when i actually test drove it i actually noticed that it runs kinda too slow. My b5 a4 is even a lot faster. I've tested another a4 b6 automatic and it does run quicker... Also when you press down the turbo sound isnt as loud as it usually is on these audis. He keeps telling me that his turbo is probably going since the car has 140k but i doubt it.. The car has no check engine lights or anything, runs beautiful doesnt misfire or anything its just when you floor it, it just... is slow? Is it normal or what could be going on?

Possibly the turbo....mine went around 145k. If its the turbo going there should be white smoke coming from the exhaust if it sits and idles for a few minutes. When my turbo went I had no engine lights or anything other than the smoke and terrible acceleration

I guess that's a possibility but when you floor it the car doesn't jerk or anything, and there isn't white smoke or by now the turbo would have been replaced for sure lol. I guess its just one of those weird a4's

Can you pull the codes?

Has he ever replaced the fuel filter? When were the spark plugs replaced last?

Could be a clogged cat , bad turbo , clogged fuel filter , fuel pump starting to crap out.

The turbo can be bad without smoke. They will just start to sieze up. Pull air intake boot of & check the impeller with your fingers. Should spin like it's lubed with warm butter!
