'03 A4 Gas Cap
I have an 03 A4 1.8 and there's no strap that holds the cap to the door. It looks like there is a spot for such a strap to attach to the door, and there looks to be a couple spots on the cap itself where this could exist. It's annoying because there is nowhere for me to put the cap when i'm putting gas in the car other than on the ground. I called the dealership and they told me no such thing exists, but i have a hard time believing that.
I've spent a while searching around and i can not find anything online other than a $10 replacement cap.

It looked to me like there was an achor point for a strap, so i just assumed it was missing. It never occured to me to use those two slits to hook it to the door, i figured it would have had a little holder like my '03 Civic, or '93 del sol. lol.
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

You have no idea how many times ive heard that complaint and when the fix is described its like a lightbulb went off in their head. I dont know why they had to hide it like that. Personally id dont even use the slits. I just set the cap on the decklid right where it meets the glass. Never had it blow away or fall off.
i did that the first time i put gas in my car, and is sorta rolled away. i could see swirl marks in the paint which came out, but that was the first and last time i made that mistake.
whenever you design something, it should "afford itself to what it does". 2 slits do not mean "hook me on the gas door". -1 for the Home team.
i like my audi, but i also bought a 1987 BMW 325is, and that car is quite a bit of fun (though something on it is always broken), in a raw drifting kind of way (when it's wet, you have to try pretty hard to keep it hooked to the road, and it has decent tires)
