I'm new to this forum so bear with me. I am currently shopping for a new car and have been looking at the 03 and 04 A4's. I plan to find a used bone stock A4 and would like to make some performance modifications. I am shooting for 300-325hp range and am wondering which platform (1.8T or 3.0)is a better choice in achieving this. I am looking for reliable hp as this is going to be my daily driver. If anyone could comment, please do. Thankx

 

The 1.8t has a lot more parts options. The 3.0 starts around 220 hp, but dont forget tq. PES sells a supercharger kit for the 3.0 for around $3800, which will give you like 315 hp, and 350 tq or something like that. I just find the 1.8t more reliable, and a lot cheaper to get some great power out of. A stock 1.8t that gets an APR stage 1 software upload nets you 205hp/245tq. Add some more go fast parts, and a FMIC, and theres your 300.
