2000 A4 stopped in the middle of the road!
Towed the car to my regular garage. Tech says timing belt snapped and busted the cylinder heads!! Cost of repair ~$3500. Already sunk a lot of repair costs on this car. Love the drive but out of money. Anybody has ideas on whether salvage parts would work?
Sure they would work, but the bulk of that $3500 is probably mostly labor. I'm not sure how much money could be shaved off by using salvage parts. Not to mention you run the risk of something else failing that is critical to the timing setup of your engine. (IE: Reusing a timing belt tensioner that has been on a car with 85k miles on it... It's going to fail sooner or later while you still own the car)
