2002 Adui A4 Rear Windows Broken (help)
Ok, so I have been dealing with this problem in the driver's side rear window for a few weeks but yesterday the passenger side rear window did the same thing and I cant find any information on this AT ALL!
Heres what happened:
As I was rolling down the window I heard a snap and the window fell to the fully down position and now it wont go back up on its own. It rolls down just fine but when i try to roll it up I hear the motor turning followed a few seconds later by a thud but the window goes no where. Im really confused bacause I called Audi and they told me it was the regulator (they want 500 a side to fix). I would think it would be more like a simple plastic piece sanpping or somehting along those lines.
Your healp would be GREATLY appreciated! I would rather not spend 1000 bucks to find out that its not the porblem.

Sounds like the wire that reels the window up and down snapped, usually when a window regulator goes out. It makes a crunching noise and kinda goes crazy. When I did my drivers door, I noticed that the plastic wheel was eating up the wire which leads me to the wire snapping theory. Unfortunately the window regulator comes in 1 piece w/everything you need. Although it could of just feel out of the rails. Best thing to do is to take the door panel off and get a better look.

Broken Window
I just had the same problem last night. I was driving and I put the rear driver side window down and I heard a loud crack and now the window won't go up and easily falls down. Does anyone know how to fix it or who I should take it to to fix it and how much the repairs will cost?

if you go to A4 Mods.com under "stereo and interior" there is a tutorial on peeling window switches that explains how to remove the door panel.
