2004 A4 1.8TQ transmision reliable?
My sister has a 2004 Audi A4 1.8T quattro. It has currently 124,000kms (about 78k miles). For the most part it has been a pretty good car and she loves it. Recently we got the tranmission serviced (full flush, and filter change) although audi claims it's "a lifetime fluid". The car was running and shifting great before, maybe a little harder before we took it in for service. After servicing the car has been great, the transmission is the same if not better (smoother) than before. The technician the transmission specialy shop said that the fluid was very bad (black, and gunky at the bottom) and that there was metal shaving at the bottom of the pan on the magnet. Generally that is not a good sign, but when my dads truck got the transmission serviced and they noted that it looked extremely clean down there, the transmission blew 600 miles later. My general question is, the car seems okay. Drives great. We've done all the maintanence it needs. I know usually the tranmissions used in the quattro and reliable but the fact that it was gunky and metal shavings were found makes me a little worried. The tech at the shop also noted that its typical of these cars to also looks a gear (most likely reverse). Should my sister sell the car? keep the car? should i stop worrying? looking for some comments and inputs.
Thanks in Advance.
