Default 2004 Cabriolet Plastic Skid Plate

The skid plate on my Cab is falling off. It has broken clips and missing screws. If I remove it completely will I be open to somekind of mechanical failure or adverse effects?

The one underneath? No ie doesn't have any effect, the only thing is that air is going to escape through the bottom blowing a bit of road debri around, also same goes for road debris going in, other than that is there to protect from little rocks and stuff like that, I believe that it might also be a small aerodynamic effect on it but I'm no fluids engenner. Just get one whenever you can.
