3.0 Chip?
Does anyone thing its worth paying around $600 for a chip for the 3.0 which will increase HP by around 15 HP? Considering there isn't much that can be done for this engine without out paying insane money...
You're probably not going to get 15hp, but you will feel a difference. I chipped my 3.0 with the chip from GIAC and loved it. It's going to make the most difference when done with intake and exhaust. You'll definitely notice more torque and better throttle response.
And as far as your intake is concerned, you'll get your best dyno gains from just putting in a k&n panel filter. Just $30 for more power. Definitely worth it.

The best you are going to get is around 10hp with a decent chip, if you put in a 2.5" exhaust system you can bump that number up to around 18hp which is about the best you can do with a 3.0L without a supercharger. But hey 18hp makes it close to the B5 S4 so its worth it in my opinion.
P.S. Cone filters increases the amount of airflow into the intake, but if its not sucking in cold air (exposed) then you are actually losing horsepower because hot air is harder to compress in the combustion chamber. Dropping a K&N filter into the stock air box is the best thing you can do for the intake.
