I have an opportunity to get a 2002 A4 1.8t for a very good price. Only issue is its starting to show signs on the somewhat common low oil pressure/"oil sludge" issue with those engines. Now I can fix that issue (clean out screen in sump, flush system and so on) and then I plan on getting and extended warranty plan just in case the s**t hits the fan again...or if the fan stops running (get my drift haha). Any way, so my question is, does that sound like a good plan or is it all going to come back and bite me in the butt later?

 

If you are getting it at a great price then it shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure to get the engine flushed really good.

 

What's the mileage?? How much????

 

it has about 88,xxx and im thinking i can get them down to at least $3800, its just over 4 grand now. But i need them to pick up their phone first!! why the heck list a phone number that you'll never pick up!?

 

i would def get a carfax. otherwise it sounds pretty good. i would tow it until its flushed though.

 

New timing belt and water pump is also necessary.

 

yeah definitely going to get a carfax if i decide its gunna work out.
