a4 unlock doors fogs come on mod
ok so my friend has an a4, and tonight we saw this guy with a b6 A4 unlock his doors from the keypad and just the fog lights turned on and rear tails lit up as well, then when he opened his door they turned off...we were tryin to figure out what sort of mod is this? and is there a diy on it? thanks.

It's not a mod, it's called the "coming home feature." The Fogs & tails illuminate when you unlock until you open the door, or when you lock, they stay illuminated for about 20 seconds. Some people have it where the headlights illuminate instead of the fogs. One of the best features IMO. It just looks cool too, and gets points from the chicks.
I have it on my B6, and I didn't even know I had it up until about 2 weeks ago haha!! It's located to the right of the headlight switch, and it's very small. You just push on it and it comes out, and you just twist it to turn it on and then push it back in.
I guess you have it if you have the xenons.

It is stock, not a mod. I have it on my 2005 B6. My fogs and taillights also stay on for about 20 seconds after I lock my car. It's great for illuminating the area while I walk to and from the car.
The lights also never turn off if I don't lock my car. That was an interesting find one night when the door from my house to my garage was illuminating when I came downstairs one time at 2am.

Hmm... Beyond the actual headlamps, there's no major difference between a car with the Xenon package and one without, right? It would be interesting to see where that switch plugs in and if we non-chosen ones can mod it into our car as well.

the other thing i've been thinkin about (since i have leather and its always so cold in the winter) is to have something like that feature, except have the seats start heating as soon as you unlock the car! it would pretty much go to whatever temp you had it set at when you left the car so if youleft it off it wouldnt go on....

Someone up there *points up there* indicated it was a part of the Lighting package. Given it's name, I'd have to agree. It sounds like the missing component on our non-lit cars is the fancy little dash switch. I'm no expert, but I'm thinking the car is programmed for it to be enabled with VAG-COM, but you'd need to jumper some connectors somewhere to emulate the magical dash button.
So who has the lighting package and wants to help the rest of us out?
*EDIT* I'm guessing someone with a Bentley and some experience looking at the electrical diagrams could figure it out as well. I just don't have mine yet, so ....yea.
