AC went out
Ac went out had it quickly checked because the closest Audi dealership is 2 hrs away... Mechanic said its computer problems... Ac had been acting weird for the past few days smelling funny not working good any suggestions? Any DIY suggestions that I may be able to do before I drive all that way. I appreciate any responses.
What kind of smell? Typically musty/moldy smell or coolant/refrigerant smell?
If it is the musty/moldy smell that is typical and you need to flush out the a/c vent. It is possible that it could be so moldy as to restrict airflow and 'freeze' it up. There is a procedure in my Chilton manual to clean the core. Basically it is a high level aerosol cleaner to spray into the cabin air intake that will disolve and clean the mold. Then flush.
If it is the coolant/refrigerant smell than you likely have a system leak and it now stopped as it doesn't have enough pressure to run. In that case you should be getting lights and faults. The ECON light would stay on permenantly most likely.
