Hi,

I have just bought this A4 Quattro and noticed that my mpg was really low. I assumed nothing of it blaming it on the remap and a lightened flywheel. But recently I noticed that the car wasnt rolling to a stop when approachin the lights but stopping as if brakes were engaged!

So I got out the car to test the temperature of each rotor to determine which caliper was sticking and all four rotors were scorching hot. Brake fluid was black!

So I took it to a mechanics who told me all 4 corners need replacing which I thought was odd as it was a bit of a coincidence if all four corners had broken at the same time and were all rubbing. This cost me £900 for new calipers discs and pads!!

Picked up the car and it was fixed...for about 5 minutes! Problem still persists. Surely if all four calipers are engaged at the same time this is due to something further up the line? Ive searched everywhere and no one seems to have had this problem par one guy who asked on those "ask a mechanic website" and the response to his question was faulty brake servo/ booster applying pressure to master cylinder in turn applying pressure to the brakes.

I dont want to fix this problem via trial and error as the £900 has wiped me out and tbh it wasnt needed as it didnt fix the problem so now Im skint with the car in the same state as it was before I forked out almost a grand and I am now having to take it back to the same mechanic who I dont want him to replace every part in my car until he finds the problem. Tbh I'm pished off to say the least that he assured me replacing all brakes would fix the problem!

Should have stuck with clapped out Jap cars lol
