Default APR Stage 1 and 1+

i have an 03 1.8t q and i'm looking at getting the APR chip. on the APR website it says that the stage 1+ requires Bosch or APR fuel injectors. does anyone know if it really requires that or would i be okay getting the stage 1+ and then getting larger injectors later?

Do not go stage1+ and not have larger injectors... The mapping from stage1 to 1+ is different, it calls for more fuel and more air thus increasing power... It will damage your car... Just go with stage 1 for now, and then upgrade to 1+ later, its free. Also, as far as injectors go, you have more than those 2 choices. Bosch OEM TT225 which are like $350+ for the set, the APR injectors which are even more costly, then you have aftermarket Genesis or Siemens-Deka 380cc injectors which run somewhere in the $250ish range... As mentioned earlier, the upgrade from stage 1 to 1+ is free (on APR's side atleast), but some dealers might charge an "Installation/Reflash" fee.

You need an upgraded diverter valve at the least

APR does charge for software upgrades, it's $200 plus shop labor to go to a diffrent APR program. with the labor i paid $260 when i went from Stage 1+ to Stage 2+ (K04 File)

if you go with the Stage 1+ you can get the EFIs for about $300 i think, or pickup a used set for pretty cheap and just install them in the parking lot of the APR dealer before they flash the ECU.

you can get away with using the stock valve until it breaks.but there's no telling when that will happen. sometimes its 1 day, others it's months. you need at least a 710n, but id suggest one from Forge.

and you need to regap your plugs or get new ones and gap them to .028

Stage 1+ to 2+ is a complete different file, thus they charge. But Stage 1 to 1+ is a slight modification to the file, they DO NOT charge you for it, I know because my shop is an APR dealer.

they're still doing the same thing, just reflashing the ECU and adding injectors. some dealers charge for this, others dont

Can you install the injectors yourself before getting the flash and then drive like 50 miles to the place you’re going to get your flash done?
