Audi a4 b6 front turn signal wire harness problem. Help!!!
#11
I have the same issue (front left turn signal bulb is not blinking) on my 2002 A4. I bought another bulb, installed it, got in the car, and the bulb blinked properly. (I also physically saw the bulb blinking). So I shut the car down and went about my day.
Several hours later, I took the car out, got the OK signal on the dash...then made a left hand turn and got the dash failure display again..so I am back to where I was before, new bulb is not blinking.

As I said, replaced the bulb, did not fix the issue (the hazard lights do flash on both sides)
Since then I have replaced the hazard switch, did not fix the issue
I then pulled the parking bulb socket unit out and cleaned/compressed the metal contacts as best I could for better contact, my understanding is there is a TSB on that process...again, did not fix the issue (although I did find a pinhole through one of the three metal contacts on the outer portion of the bulb socket shaft, the other two contacts do not have a pinhole).
My question is, has anyone actually resolved this problem? In all the searching I have done, I cannot find a thread where this was resolved successfully...just many suggestions for fixes.
Thanks, Joe

Thanks. That's a good thought, but I did not want to take the other headlamp unit out to access the other socket...a little lazy I know. I have a new bulb holder being shipped now, so hopefully I will have a resolution to this soon.

awww man i get you though. Those lights are a task to get out sometimes! U could have also flipped the bulb and installed it and see if the light sflash or stay on all the time. sOMetimes the contact from the bulb isnt inserted properly not allowing the dual filament to light up properly . . . .

Installed the new turn signal socket this morning, and all appears well....left turn signal now signals, and the left parking light is functional again...no failure report on the dash either. Hopefully this will continue to be the case...I drove the car a fair amount today with no issues.
Hope this helps with anyone else who may have the same issue.

bulb socket
Hey, this is my first audi and i havent worked on cars very much yet. I have the same front left blinker problem and ive tried messing with it and changing the bulb already. When you say the bulb socket do you mean the black thing that you twist out of the headlight that the bulb itself is plugged into? and also where did you order yours and how much did you pay? thanks!

Hi:
Yes, I am referring to the black plastic bulb holder that the bulb sits in. The original did not have nearly enough of a grip/tension on the bulb to make the connection work. I had tried adjusting/cleaning the metal contact bands on the original holder, but that did not help...I bought the new holder online from an Audi dealer in Virginia...here is the link to the part on their site (with shipping came out to $32.70...disclaimer, I am not affiliated with the dealer!):
BULBHOLDER (8E0-953-053-A) - $21.41 - 8E0953053A
Part number is: BULBHOLDER (Audi - 8E0-953-053-A)
Good luck...Joe

I have the same problem: 2003 a4, front left turn signal error message, the lamp filament is good, but have black burn mark on 1 of 4 wired at base of lamp. My guess was arcing when turn signal blinks on and off, and burn caused by poor connection. Flipping lamp 180 degrees works short term until new connection gets burned.
I am trying a modification to push the offending metal tab harder against the lamp wire with a set screw. I drilled a hole in the lamp holder and installed a M4-8mm set screw.

[Did you ever find a fix for this?
QUOTE=mopar_350;1327855]Ok so I have the b6 model and the left front turn signal does not blink.
I have changed the right side complete headlight with working turn signal to left side and shows same problem. The amber bulb lights up when I turn the lights on but does not flash when I put the turn signal on.
I have also replaced the hazard switch in the middle of my dash with no luck.
I have also found the wire in headlight connector and added power to it with a tested n the bulb lit up.
I think there has to be a problem with the wire harness.
FYI the rear and side blinkers work on the left side. Just not the front bulb in the headlight.
If you have a wire harness schematics or think of something else that might be it please let me know.[/QUOTE]
