Default B6 ?

I am looking to buy a B6 A4 in the near future but I was wondering if they come with navigation. I thought for sure they do but every one I find on autotrader that says it has navigation has no pictures of the actual nav unit so it got me wondering. I tried some mild searching with no definitive answers.

Are you in the US? If so, I wouldn't want any B6 that has stock NAV. RNS-E is the NAV you'd want, and that came out after the B6's. People retrofit them in to the B6, but unless you find a car where someone did that, you're prolly stuck with a CD-based piece of crap NAV system. In which case, my opinion is to go aftermarket. Way better NAV options and way better sound and zoning functions for multiple screens.
RNS-E is pretty cool and has the most "factory" look, but it is not as good as most aftermarket systems out there.
But nonetheless, any B6 you find with stock factory NAV.... the NAV isn't that great.

EDIT: Der... your profile says Lancaster. So yeah, you are in the US.

Thanks for the great info. Do you have a ballpark on what it would cost to have the RNS-E system put in? I assume it's a hefty job.

I think it would cost between $900 - $1100 for the NAV unit. Not sure about the install though.

This is how the RNS-E looks on a B7:

How hard of a job is it to install the RNS-E system into a car without a nav unit? Does the wiring fit anywhere or is it all a custom job?

You can get the unit on eBay; just search for Audi navigation. For more detail, you can also visit www.navplus.us

I'll be sure to do a write-up if I go this route.
