So before I owned my b6 audi s4, I had a 98 bmw 318ti with a rag-top and a 01 jetta vr6. Both of these cars had great sunroofs, or in the case of the bmw a fully convertible top. When they retracted, a 1-2 in fabric guard rose up with it, and stopped the wind from coming into the car and making a very ugly bass sound.

So what's up with this car?

btw- i know what you're talking about. I have a hi pitched whistle that intensifies with the sunroof open and windows shut...i mean WTF!

 

It's not that cracking the rear windows isn't an option, and I do have window guards on each window-it's that you SHOUDN'T have to! My 01 Jetta had a very similar cockpit and sunroof setup, just a different windscreen on the sunroof. It's like they removed function for cosmetic purposes.

Perhaps I should call the dealer and see if the old windscreen can be retrofit back on.
