battery replace

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE RADIO CODES!!!
For some reason I didn't get asked for mine when I changed the battery, but I lucked out. Also your traction control light may light up. Just drive it for a mile or so and it clears that (in my 03 A4 atleast).
But Cincy is right, you shouldn't have to take it anywhere.
I don't know about a 2.4l A4, but in mine there was a PITA hex bolt in the front of the battery holding down a wedge holding it in, took the guys at the battery place 15 minutes to get it out (hey it was a $5 install, and it made it so I didn't have to pay the core charge lol)

when you take out the battery your radio should go into anti theft mode
where it wont do anything untill you put the right code in
most of the cases it should be included with the official papers for the car , if not youre gonna have to go to the dealer and have them pull it up , when i wanted mine they wanted to charge me 40 bucks for it cuz apparently they needed to pull the radio out and look at the serial #

I have replaced my battery a few times and have never needed the radio code. And it should only take about 5 minutes to change it. Like Sublime said, there's one bolt in front for the bracket holding the battery down. But then again, maybe its different for the 1.8t

i think my 1.8t is going to need a new battery. this morning the temp was in the 10's and i could tell my car kinda struggled to turn on.
my question is... will this affect my lo-jack if i change the battery myself? anyone have one of these installed and know what might happen? my dealer put one in automatically when i bought mine.
besides the radio that might need a code, will my key fob need to be re-calibrated too?

I think the radio will only ask for a code if it is removed from the car or the battery is removed from the car for an extended period of time. I wouldn't think it would do anything to the lojack tho, doesn't it have a small battery or some kind of energy reserve in it anyway? Otherwise what good is it really, your car could be stolen and if the bat is removed, its useless?
