I am having the weirdest thing happen, when i start my 02 quattro I get a beep from somewhere around the rear center brake light. It beeps about 3 times in two seconds.

Things that happened in recent history of the car is i have been hauling a good bit of stuff recently in the trunk with the seats down, a coil pack went and was replaced by a shop and the engine trouble code cleared, and 3 weeks ago when the gas gauge went empty the gauge stuck there until i refilled after coming close to empty again.

I am not sure exactly when it started because it is only very audible when the seats are down in the rear, but i don't even have a clue what it might be and there are no warnings on the dash.

 

If it beeps 3 times it might be a low battery warning for the alarm horn. I understand that you can replace the horn or cut it open your self and replace the rechargeable batteries.

 

when i went through 2 crappy batteries in a row, i got the 3 beeps at startup also. something concerning crappy battery maybe?

 

where would they be located, and i guess that might make sense because it appears to be the same horn as the alarm and the alarm horn is pretty pitiful sounding to begin with
