Default Best Place to Buy Timing Belt & Water Pump Kit

I just purchased a B6 A4 3.0 w/ 91k miles and from what I've been reading, it looks like I need to get my timing belt replaced asap. Also read that it makes sense to replace the water pump as well if the timing belt is getting replaced. From everyone's vast experience on this forum, where is the best place I can buy a timing belt & water pump kit?

The best price I found online is $389 incl. shipping and that seems a bit steep.

Any feedback is appreciated...thanks everyone.

Try www.blauparts.com I've never purchased from them yet but I do much forum surfing and always see them mentioned. They have instruction set as well for DIY and additional parts you should change while your at it. Here's the link to the B6 3.0.

Hope that helps

Blauparts have always been good to me. This is the kit I'm going to buy and have my mechanic use: http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=GH21119-1A

There are a number a specialty tools required to do this job properly which can cost just as much, or more than, the parts. It's worth purchasing from blauparts for the tool rental alone...

I'm lazy and having pure motorsports replace all of that for me, thermostat, water pump timing belt, serpentine belt etc, etc.. Total cost $900ish which isn't bad, considering Audi would probably charge me $2000 plus, and a Audi/Porsche specialist was going to charge me $1500. I'm paying roughly $500 for convenience, and I don't care, I don't feel like doing it again.

You don't have to replace the timing belt, it's just recommended because of the work that's involved in replacing the water pump. It's kind of, you're in there, you might as well replace it.

here's a look. DIY: B7 A4 Timing Belt Change
