anyone have any prefrences or would prefer one over the other

and does anyone know if there is a turbo you can install on the 3.0 quttro?

 

also do any of these come in manual?

 

yes both come in manual 6 spd i do beleive (my 3.0 is), and its up to your prefrence, the 1.8t is ALOT more tuner friendly, easier to work on, and from what ive read a bit more problematic than the 3.0. the 3.0 quattro 6 spd manual has a bit more luxury, higher quality interior, and better reliabilitywith good power when ever you want it, ( this is all information i have read up onwithin this site)but there are very few engine mods for it besides minimal gains with a chip, exhaust and a cold air intake, they do offer a supercharger for it that is right around 5 grand i do believe, so when all said and done if you go with the 3.0 and just want power, my opinion is instead of spending 20 grand on purchasing and power adders to the 3.0, just buy an B6 S4 with the 4.2 v8

 

so theres more mods for the 1.8T? is it possible to get the 1.8T almost up to the hp of the 3.0 with mods and such? bc what i really want to do is get the 1.8T but make it quicker than it is bc it doesnt seem super quick

 

well yeah without a doubt you can get the 1.8t quicker than the 3.0, the 3.0 isnt super fast any ways i mean it has decent power and feel but i wouldnt really go racing with it, ht ething with the 1.8t and with any car for that matter is the more you put into them the less reliable they are and these cars are by no means cheap to fix, if you have good mechanical skills and/or money then it wont be as bad but, ask any one on the site they are exspensive... i would still say find an s4, if i had the money i would deffinatley get one, ive never driven a 4.2 v8 but i have the 2.7 twin turbo and they are awesome... good luck

LeMON, IMHO, I would go for a b5 s4. They come with a 2.7t engine that produces 250 stock. I have put less than $1000 intomine (a6)and now have around 320 or 330. They S4 is a blast to drive, but I neede a bigger car. Granted there are a few common problems with the 2.7t, but if you go to audiworld.com under forums they have a section dedicated to people talking about the 2.7t engine. That being said the 1.8t is also very fun to drive and easy to mod. If your looking to mod? if not the 3.0 is the only way to go.

 

yea i as just checking out the s4 and it seems pretty nice but what are the major differences between that and the 1.8t other than speed or are they pretty similar and are they easy to mod because i am looking to mod

 

If you want to mod get a 1.8t manual. Just the chip will get you close to the power of the 3.0. Here is a good reference.

from what i understand pretty much everything performance wise is upgraded between the s4 and a4, bigger brakes better suspension bigger motor and twin turbos... the basic platform is the same i guess with just a few cosmetic looks on the exterior, as well as a few badges on the interior, i guess an easy comparison would be like a c5 vette or a mustang gt compared the the Z06 vette and the cobra mustang.. by far all around better cars as far as performance but like i said it all depends on how deep your pockets are if you want somthing decent on gas and easily modded with good class and style then get the 1.8t, the s4 is down on gas milage but is worth it, if you just want a reliable cruiser and 20 plus mpgs then get the 3.0... im no expert by any means, just from my short stay here on the forums and reading up in articles on the net that is the information i have gathered i hope its helpful to you!!
