Default Brand New Clutch Noise

Hi,

I just bought a 2005 B6 1.8t Q and the dealer installed a brand new clutch under warranty before i picked it up.

at very low speeds the clutch makes a "whurring" noise and there is some vibration.

it is not under regular accelaration that its noticed, only at low speeds.

Is it normal for a brand new clutch to have some period to break in??

yes all clutches need 500 miles city driving or 1000 mixed... you can get by with less on a stock clutch... did they install a new flywheel or resurface your old? i had that noise at first too, now i can only hear it in my garage when im backing out, but im sure its something to do with the feramic material instead of organic....

Like Papachristou said there is 500-1000 miles of a break in period on every new clutch.
Did u get installed a lightweight flywheel by any chance???

Hi, Thanks for your response, I really appreciate it.

They installed a whole new clutch unit. Only notice at low speeds a vibration and clunky noise.

I'm hoping it goes away as its not a nice way to enjoy driving my "new to me" audi.

No lightweight flywheel. Just standard.

So its safe to assume the vibration and noise is normal for the first 500mi or so?

^^^ depending how bad is the vibration... It might have something to do with the clutch material. Just wait for a couple hundreds of miles, or if u got some extra time, visit your dealer ))

ummm a clunky noise and vibration doesnt sound good... my clutch is very grabby so it chattered a little till it was broke in but if it isnt gone in 500 miles, i would be going back to show them the noise
