Default Buying an extended warranty

I recently bough a B6. Ive been having some issues and I am looking into buying an extended warranty. Has anyone bought one? Where and how much for a good one? What exactly do they cover, and is it worth it? I recently got a notice in the mail from a place called Dealer Services, in St. Louis MO, that offers warranties of up to 6 additional years or 100,000 miles. Any help would be great, thanks!

If you are buying a german car especially in US, thats a no brainier. Get the extended warranty.
My experience....
$7000 transmission change = $50 deductible
Various turn signal, headlight changes, little electrical problems = $50 sometimes non.
Fuel pump change = $50 deductible
Drive Shaft Change = $50
Crank Case oil leak = $50
Whole Head unit replacement = $50
Coolant leak = $50
I am sure I am missing some too.

I had a pre-owned certified warranty so I didn't pay for it but looking above you can see that I had over $10K worth of stuff done to the car for at most $400. Audi's (any german car) is not cheap to maintain and fix but I think the premium that I paid for buying my car from a dealer paid itself off many times.

I used to even get a free rental car when I had to leave the car overnight... If I wasn't short on cash I would have bought another additional 25K miles.

I bought an extended warranty for my car up to 100k miles (or 4 years from last December). I'm very happy with the purchase and have already had over $2,200 in repairs done. I got mine with a $0 deductible for just under $3,000 from Warranty Direct. They seemed to work with me fairly well...I did pick mine up before the manufacturers warranty expired however. They do provide a rental car, etc. when your car is in the shop. It's a nice little deal. Hope this helps!

Does Warranty Direct offer 0% financing?

Yup, 0% financing with a down payment of 20% and 12-month 0% financing.

Aftermarket warranties vary in quality and what is covered depending on which company.

They can sometimes be worth it, but the most important thing is the reputation of the company you are buying it from. If Audi extended warranty, then you are OK. Do your research into the quality of the warranty company and the price. There are lots of companies out there, some cheap, some expensive, some good, some bad.

That said, I didn't buy an extended warranty. My car is now just under 200K miles. Other than wear and tear maintenance/repairs and small things like cracked vacuum hoses (5 dollars), replacing the EVAP valve (40 dollars) replacing a couple of vacuum check valves (15 dollars), headlight washer pump (50 dollars), an extended warranty with a 50 dollar deducatable would have given me back a total of 150 dollars for a wheel bearing and replacing the electric fan behind the radiator.

Others aren't so lucky.

Yup, I agree with Crunk...definitely know what you're getting into when you call up for the quotes from warranty companies. Shop around and see what gives you the best deal...here are a few key things that I focused on:

- Make sure that the labor is included in the warranty and that there is no limit on the labor rate per hour...we all know how much labor is for these wonderful German cars.
- Make sure that "wear and tear" repairs are covered under the warranty...for example, the timing belt, water pump, the turbo, etc...they WILL need to be replaced, no doubt about it, so make sure the warranty will cover that!
- Make sure you get a warranty that does not reimburse you, but rather directly pays the dealer...the more you have to wait for your money from a reimbursement, the more likely it is that you won't get it.
- They want to sell the extended warranty to you...make sure that they are insured company and that will have some backup in case anything happens.

Good luck...
