A/C Fan
Hi folks i have a B6 1.8t and I am in need of some help on a problem I'm having, My car's temp runs right in the middle, except when I turn on the a/c. The a/c gets cold when driving and it gets warm idling or in traffic, the cooling fans cycle on and off but the fan that is supposed to run with the a/c doesn't stay on. Can anyone tell me if there is a relay for the a/c fan and location, so hopefully I can narrow this down. Has anyone heard of this ? thanks.
which a/c fan are you talking about? the passenger compartment fan or the air flow fan in the engine compartment?
I have sporadic A/C problems in that the A/C shuts down and the interior fan stops for a few minutes, then starts up again. When it works it is ice cold. Everything I have seen on the forums point to a faulty AC High pressure sensor, reporting a pressure over limit so system shuts down as a safety. I have the part but have yet to change it out as the system needs to be opened and re-charged in the process.
Little more info and we can help more. What does engine temp do when idling?
Do some searching and you should fine some good A/C threads.

Thanks for your response I did some searching and checked back my fans over, the ones in the engine compartment I was referring to they do come on but on low speed and don't step up to the second speed so when I am at a standstill idling the temp goes up when i start moving again it comes back down and as i said it the a/c gets cold when driving and it gets warm idling or in traffic, looking at the fan module to see it the problem is in that area.
u know it sounds like u might be low on freon? the car will not cool the air at idle versus while running the same way. The compressor is working harder to keep the car cool while keeping the car cool at idle. Either that or your compressor is on its way out.
Ok checked the freon and it was low so i topped it up a/c cooling is not a problem anymore but my engine temp gauge is going up when i stop in traffic i believe my fans are not working properly i'll have them checked out.
