Cheap Air Intake rig??

Cheap Air Intake rig??
Is there a cheap air intake rig that will give me that louder spool up sound? I know, this is quite ricey, but since I don't ever plan on going past stage 1+, i just want to have some fun. I know that the stock intake is sufficient, but I think i've seen elsewhere, where people took the box out and slapped a cone filter on the intake pipe. Is this correct? has anyone done this? Does it work? I would appreciate any help on this. thanks

It has been done by a lot. It does work, if you do it right. Is it worth it, probably not. Like you stated ^^the stock airbox is efficient w/a K&N panel filter. However your looking for the swoosh. You will get the effect with any cone filter, look for a DIY and make sure you make a quality heat shield. That way you don't end up with a hot air intake.

Thanks. If you could direct me to some DIY sites or information. I've looked but havent been able to find any. It almost seems like common sense, but there are so many tubes running in and out of the box.. atleast it looks like it, i haven't really taken it apart.

here's a link, but for picture reference only. Not if you are looking for step by step.

i installed a cheap intake rig. well, just the cone anyways.. The spool up sound thingy is so cool! I love driving now, and for people who say they don't feel a difference. I beg you differ. It's not an amazing hp increase, maybe it's not an increase at all, but i deff. feel a smoother ride and anything past 3-4K rpms feels alot smoother and crisp. Not as much of that lag feel. I'm happy with it, although, my heat shield i made sucks, but it works.. thanks guys..
