Default chipping the A4 3.0

Is it really worth the money to chipthe A4 3.0??? I know its not the turbo and 3.0 chips are supposed to do far less for the car but its gotta do something right??? Ive heard anything from 5 to 12 Hp gains depending on which chip you buy. Im a newbie in the audi world andhave beenmodding my 3.0 a bit. Im not looking for a full out racer just a little more performance to add to an awesome ride. and for anyonelooking for an exhaustI just put a Thermal R&D cat back exhauston and it sounds wicked. Definitely worth every cent.

The chip for the 3.0 gives you about 6 hp and a little bit more torque. It's expensive hp for what you pay for it, but if you want to squeeze the extra power out of your car then go for it. The thing is, you won't be able to run regular in it anymore. That's something to consider with today's fule prices.

Yeah thats what i've been told its an expensive6 Hp gain. I unfortunately already run premium so that wont hurt me too much. What chip do you reccomend for the 3.0??? I have already spent 900 on the exhaust,1000 on the rims, and230 on the tint,i might as well go for the gold andget it chipped. You only live once and i cant take my money with me so I might as well do it. Also, ive been told not to waste my money on a cold air intake what you you all think about that??

Why not just put on a supercharger, you would probably get as much extra power by removing your spare tire as you would by getting a chip.

The Nuespeed chip is $399 and delivers about 6 hp at the wheels. The GIAC chip is a little more potent but it's spendy. If you get the GIAC setup be sure to get the hand-held flashloader so that you can switch between proggies. I have one for sale (shameless self-promotion mode *ON*).

I had a GIAC flash on my TT before I reflashed with the APR setup. They're $150 new. I'll do mine shipped for $100.00. It's been used less than a half-dozen times.

Stop throwing your money away....... Sell it and get a 1.8T or 2.0T and then you will see results for your money.. And PLEASE, dont; come back saying "But I can't afford to sell it waaaa" if you can afford to chip it for a measly 6HP then you can definitely afford to sell it and get what will really pay off. 3.0 are like women... All the money in the world won't make them put out.

I really enjoyed my 3.0 while I had it. It was a blast to drive. Had nice low end, lots of power actually through the whole rev range. I don't know why all the turbo owners have such an attitude towards the V6 cars. Not everyone wants to dump $6k into a BT setup so that they can have a car that they have to dump the clutch at 3k rpm to launch. I just don't get the hatin' bit. To each their own.

It's not attitude dude. It's frustration.... Here's someone who is doing anything and everything to his 3.0... Now I think it's great that he wants to do it all and make it look and run beautifully. The only problem I have is that he's doing it all and getting very little in return.... I guess I'm PMSing or something lol.... I just think that if you are gonna spend 500+ to chip a car you should be getting a good ROI (return on investment). In all honesty, I'd love to have a 3.0. Smooth acceleration, no turbo lag and sexy car nonetheless but taking into consideration today's gas prices, cost of repair and ability to modify, the 1.8T/2.0T wins hands down.... Sorry, I'm not trying to turn this into a 1.8T vs. 3.0 war. Bottom line, chipping a 3.0 is a waste of money and I'll bet anything you can squeeze out 5-10 hp out of that 3 litre in other, CHEAPER ways

Pablo... I see your P.O.V. I chose a 1.8T TT over a 3.2 for the same reason. I knew that I could do some basic mods and have as fast a car for a couple of simple mods. If I had been on a tight budget I would have gone the 42DD downpipe route w/catback for my exhaust and a chip. I just have had the 3.0 car and now a couple of 1.8T cars, and they all have thier strong points.

You are a purist in your pursuit of power. I understand where you are coming from as far as which platform can be expanded on the most and most economically for what you put into it.
