How else would you remove the front end?

 

You swing the radiator and support out so you don't have to drain it.

 

I thought the T-belt job includes the water pump...

 

I'm considering buying a kit from the below vendor

They have an option to rent a tool kit. Is this necessary? When I look at other posts and sites (like audiworld/tech) they don't mention a kit when changing the belt. Has anyone needed this when changing their belt? Or maybe the kit just has tools that make the job easier, i dunno...thanks

 

It has all the 'special' tools you need (other then basic hand tools).. if you dont have them, you should rent it. Of course, except for the cam/crank locking tools, you should be able to find the rest at you local parts store and rent them for just a deposit.

 

They also replaced my waterpump which might explain why the lower hose was disconnected, maybe to drain? If it doesn't drain like that, than nevermind. But I was wondering, could a leak from a hose connecting to radiator or waterpump cause my headlights to fog up? Ever since the timing belt/water pump, etc. service was done, my headlights have not been dry.

 

Your headlights prolly lost thier seal, and, when the mechanics pulled the lower hose to drain, it was prolly still warm and steamed, fogging the area and getting into the lights.

If you can reach them, pull the bulbs and use a hairdryer to dry them out. Will take time.

 

Man, I am done with this mechanic.

 

Now don't despair, the foggy headlight might be just a coincidence. It happens to most B6s.
