So, I got a new DV in the mail today, went to install and realized Audi had so graciously left these nice, metal, one time use clamps all over my hoses Pretty sure i broke every bone in both hands trying to cut them off with side cutters/linesmans pliers etc. There must be a better way

 

Sorry, I'm sure there are other threads on here.. But I was cursing my Audi there for about 2.5 hours. It's a shame that a job that should take only 5-10 minutes can take so long, all because of someone's ill thought out design.

lol dremel would have made quick work of those clips!

 

if you can't get cutters on them you can slide a flap tip inside the flat mushroomed part. All you have to do is open it enough to free the little grab clips. If its plastic hose underneath becareful not to break it.

Those hoses can be an extreme pain in the *** on bigger motors in tighter places.

But I like them, they have a "professional" look IMO compare to screw clamps from autozone.

 

I like the prolock clamps if you are worried about aesthetics. I will eventually fabricate all aluminum intercooler/intake piping using vband clamps, which are by far my favorite.
