Unhappy Door locks issue - PLEASE HELP!

First off, thank you for taking the time to read my thread. Hopefully somebody out here has had a similar issue and can help me diagnose the problem.

My front door locks will not work. The back door locks work fine, but neither of the front door locks will engage via the keypad or interior door buttons. I can lock and unlock the back doors via the front door buttons & keypad, but they will not lock/unlock the front doors. I can manually lock the driver door from the outside using the key, but the passenger door can't be locked at all. It initially started out as an intermittent problem that lasted for a couple weeks and then became permanent.

When you lock the car with the remote can you hear the pump keep going?

No, I tried it several times and didn't hear anything at all. I opened the trunk and stuck my head down near where I believe the pump is located and didn't hear a thing other than the back doors locking/unlocking when I pushed the buttons on the keypad.

I am not sure where the pump is located on the B6, but on the B5 it is under the rear seat on the passenger side while the remote module is located in the trunk on the same side.

Your car does not have pump for door lock any more. Each door has lock/unlock motor built in the latch. For your car problem, i would let dealer check it out. You need to have trouble code pulled from Central comfort system and door control modules first then go from there.

Thanks for the replies.

I forgot to mention that I had my car in the shop last week (not dealer though) and had them spend a half hour looking into the problem and there were no trouble codes that came up.

Most independent shop scanner can only pull code from engine, transmission, air bag and ABS control modules. Ask your shop about this. Can they read Central comfort system module and both front driver door / passenger door control modules.

Hmmm...good question. Looks like I'm probably just gonna have to take it to the dealer. Grrrrrr.

If the outside rear view mirrors are not working, you should check fuse #22 15A first. It may be open. Front door locks and rear door locks use seperate fuses.
