Default Drivers window problem

Hi All again,

Another issue I have recently have is with the electric window on the drivers side...

Last week it started to make a strange sound as if something was scratching the glass as I lowered and raised the window, it quickly got worse and now the window doesn't always go down or up (It takes several attempts to get it back up).

After doing some reading, it looks like the regulator is shot... but this also looks expensive to get replaced.

Is it still worth me whipping of the door panel (looks fairly easy) and having a look ? Is it likely that something just needs popping back into place, or dirt/grit has got into the system ??

Just a thought, I am guessing someone else has experienced this out there....

Thanks all !!

Adam

Hey Adam,

It's could be the lifter, not the regulator. It's a frequent occurrence in our vehicles. I've had the same window go out twice!

Yeah, its the lifter/holder. Its a problem with our cars, and you can't just buy that 1 piece, you gotta buy the whole lifter assembly which is like $150

Do you think the lifter is shot, or still worth whipping off the panel to take a look ??

Do you know of any howtos to describe/replace the lifter ??

Thanks all !!!

All you

Take a look at the following link

http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int45.shtml

I fixed my A6 front windows a few months ago following that advice. No more problems.

Good luck!
