Default Engine Trouble Help Please!

Hi, guys I have an 03 1.8 with quatro. Automatic. Driving down the highway yesterday I lost power. All of my electronics seem to be working fine. I haven't really had a chance to tear into it yet, but here is what I am seeing.

When I bump the starter, the alternator and crank are spinning but not the cams. The timeing belt is still there so I don't think it broke but I haven't had time to start taking it apart. You guy have any clue what could be broken if it's not the timeing belt?

Thanks for any insight you can pass my way!

If the timing belt is not turning when the acc belt is the tb is broken. Did the engine die?? Do you have a check engine?

How do you know the cams are not spining?

How many miles are on the car? Has the belt been replaced?

Belt is overdue for replacement, car has about 110,000.

I know the cams aren't spinning because I pulled the cover back and watched while my brother bumped the starter.

I'm going to tear into it this weekend, I was pretty sure that the belt must have broken , just not real common in my experience for a belt to still be in place when it breaks. But I've never had a timing belt break eather. I'll post back with what I find.

Thanks guys!

I think your belt is gone bro, teeth must be torn up and your crank shaft just spins under the belt, hope fully you didn't create much damage. T-Belts should be done around 75K miles.
