Default Feeler Thread: National Meet?

I just got back from the All-Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA yesterday evening and it inspired me to want to hold a meet the Import & Kit Car Nationals in May of '11. Anyone interested? If I grab enough interested I'll organize something and reserve a block of rooms at a hotel that doesn't get robbed very often. Jeremy suggested, and I concur, that we get a multi-forum meet going so if you're a member elsewhere you might see this post. If other German car forums (Whoretex, AZ, Audiworld, etc.) already do this then post up or PM me so I can get at them and we can work together to make this thing bigger.

Carlisle, PA. I should have made that more clear in hindsight. As for accessibility I met two guys who drove to Carlisle from Tulsa, OK. That's approximately 1200 miles and I saw more than a few Cali plates. The Carlisle car show events are generally a pretty huge deal but the Import & Kit Nationals tend to get a little overlooked thanks to the GM, Chrysler, and Ford Nationals shows that take place later in the season. Here's the Carlisle Events webpage: www.carlisleevents.com Check the page out and decide whether or not you want to make the drive. If I garner enough dedicated people I'll even get a banquet or cook-out set up and try to get a speaker from either a tuning company or Audi/VW to come out. I know the Focus guys got the director of their new global program to come and speak at a banquet they set up. By the by, the new Euro Focus ST is badass.

Edit: The number of dedicated people will decide a banquet or cookout. The cookout will be a default though.

Update: I was informed by an AZ member that someone from Motorgeek already organizes an Audi meet at Carlisle for the Import & Kit show. Question: Get lumped in with the original group or make our own club?

You're about 5 years behind the 8-ball on this one. The Audi representation at Import/Kit Car is one of the biggest on the east coast. Even though H2O and Waterfest have tons of VAG cars overall, and probably more ricey show Audis, this event has more Audis in total than any event I've been to (and I hit them all).
The party is off the hook; I'll try and find the link to pics. The friday night dinner is always at a bar in town and usually gets about 100 people at it. Then more show up on Saturday for the all-day party and show.
Anyhow there are 100's of Audis that weekend from original Auto-Unions all the way up to R8 Spyders, and most of the other makes of cars (BMW/Volvo/SAAB) usually end up at the Audi tent because the party goes all night. We have big screen movies and more food and beer than should be allowed by law.
And we have the quattro-bong of death. It is a 4-outlet mechanical CO2 charged auto-filling beer bong that lets 4 people race against each other on the gulp. Always a big hit.
Oh, and although hotels are cool and all, the vast majority of people camp there, because most are usually too trashed to drive anywhere.
In any case, it would be foolish to start your own thing, because the Audi area is already off the hook. It isn't a "club" sponsored thing. It's just a bunch of Audi peeps who get together every year. There isn't any formal "club" and all are welcome. Carlisle refers to the Audi area as a "club", because we register our cars to all be in that same area, and Carlisle gives awards to the clubs with the most cars, etc., but there is no "club" outside of what Carlisle refers to the Audi area as. Although there is a sort-of "social director" who tirelessly gets all the lists of food and drink needed for the thing and gets the sign up list for the Friday night dinner (she's like the cruise director every year), there isn't any one person "organizing" anything, per say. I don't know of the Motorgeeks person but that doesn't mean there isn't someone who gets their group together to join up with the main group. Most small groups from the same areas of the country get together and caravan to the show and then hook up with the whole crew once there. Yes, we do get people from all over, including Canada and throughout the midwest and east coast.

The best place to find info when the next one rolls around is either at AZ in the "Pittsburgh People" thread under Mid-Atlantic forum (our "social director" is from Pittsburgh), quattroworld, and audiworld. Always big threads there regarding this Carlisle weekend.
